The LEHIGH COUNTY HOUSING AUTHORITY will receive sealed bids for the REMOVAL and REPLACEMENT OF VINYL SIDING, WINDOWS AND PATIO DOORS in three Apartment Buildings at 5 North 7th Street, Slatington, Lehigh County, PA 18080. The project will consist of work to be performed under a single contract for general construction. It is a requirement of the Housing Authority that the general contractor be a firm that has been engaged in the general construction/carpentry trades for not less then the most recent ten (10) years. It is also a requirement of the Housing Authority that all sub-contractors have a minimum of ten (10) years experience in the trade for which they would be engaged. A certified check or bank draft, payable to the Lehigh County Housing Authority, or a satisfactory bid bond, executed by the bidder and acceptable sureties in an amount equal to five percent of the amount of the bid shall be submitted with each bid. The successful bidder will be required to furnish satisfactory performance and payment bonds, or cash security equal to one hundred percent of the amount of the bid. All bonds must be obtained from surety companies which are listed in the U. S. Department of Treasury, Circular No. 570. Bidders are advised of the provisions for Equal Employment Opportunity. The owner encourages participation by Women and Minority Business Enterprises. Bidders are encouraged to participate in the hiring of Section 3 eligible persons. Bidders are advised that payment of not less than the minimum salaries and wages as set forth in the specifications must be paid on this project. The Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids or to waive any informalities in the bidding process. No bid shall be withdrawn for a period of 60 days subsequent to the opening of bids without the consent of the Owner. Work consists of all labor and materials, tools and equipment for the removal and replacement of windows; patio doors; vinyl siding, eave soffits, vinyl trims and accessories, downspouts and spouting accessories at the three existing apartment buildings at 5 North 7 th Street, Slatington, PA. Work shall include all labor and materials to install new nailable sheathing over the existing gypsum sheathing as a base for installation of new vinyl siding. Work shall include miscellaneous exterior carpentry trim, flashings and caulking as required for completely water tight buildings. Work shall include the installation of new wooden head, jambs, sills and sill aprons inside the apartment units at all new windows and doors. Work shall include repair and repainting of all interior trim and gypsum drywall disturbed or damaged by the window and door replacement activities. Work shall include removal from the site and proper disposal of all demolished materials including but not limited too existing windows, patio doors, vinyl siding and accessories, vinyl soffits and accessories, miscellaneous flashing, aluminum downspouts and spouting accessories.. Existing gypsum sheathing shall generally remain in place. Areas of existing gypsum sheathing on both interior sides of the recessed entry door foyers shall be removed to permit the installation of new nailable sheathing. Such sheathing shall be removed from the building and disposed off the construction site. See the drawings and drawings details for delineation of areas where gypsum sheathing is to be removed. Miscellaneous repairs to the existing gypsum sheathing as may be discovered during the work shall be repaired on a unit cost basis as outlined elsewhere in this specification.
