Renovation of a recreation facility in North Vancouver, British Columbia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a two-story above grade recreation facility.
The scope of work associated with this Request for Qualifications is for the renovation and retrofit of the existing Mickey McDougall Community Recreation Centre. The overall project scope includes both City of North Vancouver Energy and Accessibility Upgrades and Flicka Programming Upgrades. The CNV and Flicka Scopes are summarized below: City of North Vancouver Energy and Accessibility Upgrades: Building Envelope: Replacement of door seals Replace tar and gravel roof, including addition of insulation Repair roof parapets Chimney repairs Electrical: Replace light fixtures with LED (Gymnasium NIC – previously completed) Emergency lighting Upgrade distribution to facilitate mechanical upgrades Replace electrical panel West side of mechanical room Add emergency shut-off switch to mechanical room to comply with updated codes Mechanical: Replace heating boiler with high efficiency unit Replace DHWH with high efficiency unit Replace existing gymnasium HVAC unit HV-1 with a new packaged Roof Top Unit (RTU) Replace amenity ventilation system with a new packaged roofmounted Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV) that will serve upstairs activity space and viewing area (existing kitchen). Replace boiler combustion air fan Architectural: Replace ramp handrails throughout building with code compliant equivalents Accessibility upgrades to washrooms and new universal washroom at ground floor Automatic door operators at 4 locations – 3 exterior doors, and universal washroom Modifications to mechanical room space to facilitate new equipment installation and improved equipment serviceability Cosmetic upgrades to Eastern entrance area including new architectural screening on low level roof Hazardous material abatement and demolition of various spaces throughout the facility to support the above listed works. Flicka Programming Upgrades: Renovation of existing staff change room on first floor into a new staff office close to West entrance Demolition of stage area and construction of new floor level with gymnasium to provide continuation of gym space Partial demolition of gym floor and construction of new floor foam pit in North end of gymnasium. Demolition of existing kitchen on second floor and remodeling into viewing area into gymnasium and adjacent recreation space Cosmetic upgrades to new exterior entrance on east façade, handrail painting, new canopy over door, rooftop screening. Hazardous material abatement and demolition of various spaces throughout the facility to support the above listed works.
