construction of Bascule Bridge Improvements Project Range: $500,000-$700,000 The work will include, but is not limited to, the following items: a. Installation of new miter rail system on movable Bascule Bridge b. Remove existing wood ties along trestle and replace with new steel ties c. Installation of additional ballast along trestle Project Description: The scope of this project includes furnishing all materials, labor, equipment, utilities, and incidental items necessary to perform all of the work associated with the Bascule Bridge Improvements project adjacent to the North Carolina State Ports Authority (NCSPA) Morehead City Terminal as indicated on the project drawings and specified herein. The work will include, but is not limited to, the following items: 1. Installation of new miter rail system on moveable Bascule Bridge. New miter rail system shall be installed as one complete system with rider rail to provide automatic positive locking of rails on the lift portion of the bascule bridge. The existing rails will be partially removed to allow for new fixed and lift rails to be installed. Fixed rails will be bolt spliced to existing rails and lift rails will be thermite welded to existing rails on the bascule bridge. 2. Demolition of existing wood ties along the trestle spans of bridge only. Installation of new steel ties along trestle span. Additional ballast shall be provided to maintain existing rail grades The Contractor shall commence work under this contract on a date to be specified in a written order from the Designer and shall fully complete all phases of the work within 120 consecutive calendar days.
