Renovation of a detention facility in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Working plans call for the renovation of a detention facility.
As of April 14, 2022, this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for award has not yet been established. The State is looking for firms interested in providing professional Architectural services for the project referenced above. The project scope will involve the design, bid and construction for Campus Wide, Tuckpointing & Joint Repair at the South Dakota State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, OSE# C1222--02X/SWMR The perimeter wall and many of the buildings at the State Penitentiary are constructed of Sioux Quartz block and are registered with the State Historic Preservation Office. Some buildings are constructed of stone masonry units (CMU like blocks made with chards of quarried Sioux Quartz); while others are precast and cast-in-place concrete structures. The structures are in various states of condition - ranging from completely failed joints to joints that have been tuckpointed in the last 5 years. This project is to re-point and re-joint all structures* to extend the longevity of the structures. Many locations will require existing security measures to be temporarily relocated during construction - which will require heavy coordination on the construction documents. The project will require phasing based on the volume of work and available seasonal construction windows. It is anticipated to be a minimum of two construction phases, possibly three. T
