Demolition and site work for a municipal facility in New York, New York. Completed plans call for the demolition of a municipal facility; and for site work for a municipal facility.
20 Nolan Park (the "Building") was constructed in 1902 and served as a residence for the Brigadier General. It was originally built as a single-family residence, but was reconfigured between 1936 and 1938 to become a two-family residence ("Building 20A" and "Building 20B"). The Building has not been used in a residential capacity since the Coast Guard left the Island in 1996. Constructed in a vernacular Victorian/Colonial Revival Style, the Building is a three-story wood-framed structure with a wood clapboard exterior. The foundation is constructed of schist and brick and there are two brick chimneys rising above the roof on the north and south sides of the Building. Large porches with decorative wood columns and balustrades run along the north and south facades at the ground floor level. The entrances to each of the two residences are off the porches. Fenestration consists of primarily six-over-six double hung wood windows with aluminum storm windows and most doors are paneled wood. The roof is asphalt shingle with copper gutters and downspouts. 20 Nolan Park is a contributing building to the Governors Island National Register Historic District. It retains a great deal of its original character and the Client Team is committed to making sure these elements are preserved whilst in this current phase of demolition, in preparation for future rehabilitation. The purpose of this Request for Proposals (the "RFP") is to procure qualified contractor to perform selective demolition, as per the drawings defined by the designer of record, Jaklitsch / Gardner Architects, PC (Jaklitsch Gardner). The demolition plans (the "Project") are detailed in Jaklitsch Gardner's construction document set dated July 7, 2021. Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Set Aside: No Total MWBE Participation Goals: 30%
