Demolition, site work, paving and addition to a mixed-use development in Cherokee, Iowa. Completed plans call for the addition of a 873-square-foot day care center; for the demolition of a day care center; for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.

Project consists of a wood framed, approximately 40'x20' addition to the existing Head Start building in Cherokee. Project is new wood construction, with concrete and paving, site work, HVAC, plumbing and electrical work. The successful bidder shall coordinate the project with the Owner. Work on the Project shall commence as soon as possible after award of the Contract and in conjunction with and is currently scheduled for a single substantial completion date. The last substantial completion date shall be on or before April 1, 2022. Bidders will be required to provide a security deposit, in the form of an approved Bid Bond, cashiers or certified check, or certified share draft in the amount of five (5%) of the amount of the bid, in a separate attached envelope as outlined in the Instructions to Bidders. Bid security shall be made payable to the Mid-Sioux Opportunity, Inc. The successful Bidder will be required to furnish a Performance Bond and Labor and Materials Payment Bond both in an amount equal to 100% of the Contract Price and in accordance with other requirements outlined in the Bid Documents. Should the successful bidder fail or neglect to furnish satisfactory performance/payment bonds, refuse to enter into a Contract on the basis of the bid, or fail to meet the requirements of this Notice and the specifications regulating the award, the bidder's security may be retained as liquidated damages. No bidder may withdraw its bid for a period of thirty (30) calendar days after the date and hour set for opening of bids. The Mid-Sioux Opportunity, Inc. Board of Directors may make the contract award to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder meeting specifications. The right is reserved to reject any or all bids, or any part thereof, and to waive informalities as allowed by law, and to enter into such contract or contracts as shall be deemed in the best interests of the Mid-Sioux Opportunity, Inc. Minority and Targeted Small Business participation is encouraged. Bidders shall make good faith documented effort to encourage the participation of Certified Iowa Targeted Small Business in accordance with the Code of Iowa. By virtue of statutory authority, a preference will be given to products and provisions grown and/or produced within the State of Iowa. All bids will be governed by applicable provisions in the Iowa Code and Mid-Sioux Opportunity, Inc. Head Start/Early Head Start Policies. Summary: A 40'6" x 21'x7" multi-purpose room addition using slab on grade concrete flooring with wood construction and metal roofing and cladding will be added onto the north end of the current facility. Addition also includes an ADA bathroom. A new parking lot will be made to the north of the building/addition, requiring curb cutting and new sidewalks to the new addition.
