As of October 10, 2023, an engineer has been selected for the project. Although a firm timeline for construction has not been determined, construction is not expected to start prior to summer of 2025. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The City of Phoenix is seeking a qualified consultant team to provide engineering services for safety improvements to 35th Avenue from I-10 to Camelback Road. Services may include design, and possible construction administration and inspection services. The estimated total construction cost for this project is $17.5 million. The Design team will be expected to complete final construction plans, unique specifications, engineering estimates, and provide post-design assistance with the construction selection process. The team will also be expected to provide data collection information, topographic surveying, drainage memorandum, traffic analysis, utility investigation, geotechnical investigation, and preparing proper documents for Right-of Way Acquisition and Temporary Construction Easements. The Design team will work with a public engagement firm contracted by the City. The scope of work will include but are not limited to signing and striping modifications, utility conflict identification and relocations, geotechnical testing, new right-of-way, temporary construction easement identifications and coordination, pavement recommendations, drainage improvement recommendations, landscaping, and irrigation systems enhancement. Three Pedestrian Hybrid Beacons or HAWKS along 35th Avenue to increase midblock pedestrian crossing opportunities at the following locations: 35th Avenue / Grand Canal North (midblock) 35th Avenue / Cielito Park (260 feet south of Elm Street midblock) 35th Avenue / Glenrosa Avenue (midblock) New signals with improvements will be installed at the following locations: 35th Avenue / McDowell Road 35th Avenue / Encanto Blvd 35th Avenue / Virginia Avenue 35th Avenue / Thomas Road 35th Avenue / Earll Drive 35th Avenue / Osborn Road 35th Avenue / Clarendon Avenue 35th Avenue / Campbell Avenue 35th Avenue / Camelback Road Questions pertaining to this selection process or contract issues should be directed to the Contracts Specialist, Debra Russell at (602) 256-3444 or email debra.russell@phoenix.gov.
