Site work and paving for a transportation facility in Phoenix, Arizona. Completed plans call for site work for a transportation facility; and for paving for a transportation facility.
Project scope includes but is not limited to the following: 1. Taxiway - Past studies and the current CAMP plan ultimately plan for two new western Crossfield taxiways, Uniform and Victor. In the near term, a single taxiway is needed for operations, while the second one would be needed once a new west terminal is developed. This study will assess which should be constructed first. During the development of the PHX Sky Train(R), Uniform was assumed to be a Group VI taxiway while Victor was assumed to be Group V to set the Sky Train underpass structures. The Sky Train structures are now constructed, locking the horizontal alignment of the taxiways in place. It is noted that the taxiways are set to a Group VI separation and that both can be built a Group V width to accommodate operational needs since Group VI aircraft do not typically operate at Sky Harbor. For this study Taxiway widths are set at 214 feet to accommodate the Taxiway Safety Area for Group V, with actual usable width set at 75 feet with 30-foot shoulders. The taxiway profiles are set to match tie-in points at Taxiways Charlie and Delta, with a high point set over the roadway crossings to minimize the depression of the roadways crossed. Maximum taxiway grade will be 1.5% per FAA criteria. 2. Landside Roadways - the Taxiways cross over Buckeye Road and Sky Harbor Boulevard eastbound and westbound. The roadways will be crossed with a single continuous bridge structure for each taxiway that accommodates the roadway widths needed as well as space for utility corridors and incident management along the roadway shoulders. The roadway alignments and profiles are set to accommodate future development of the airport, including ADOT/MAG I-10 improvements, roadway security plazas, both planned taxiways and terminal development to the east. 3. Airside Roadways - Taxiways Uniform and Victor cross an existing north airside service road, and a future south airside service road. These crossings are recommended to be grade separated to eliminate service vehicles crossing an active taxiway. The south crossing will be accommodated by building out the Sky Train crossing structure to the south. The north crossing will be accommodated with a new structure and depressed roadway. As of June 18, 2024, Kiewit anticipates GMP 3 bidding sometime in 2025. Construction start for this package is anticipated for June 2024.
