Biofilter medias are required to be installed at wastewater treatment plants by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) in order to mitigate odors. The existing Efficient Tight Fitting (ETF) biofilter media at the WPCF has been in service for over 20 years and has surpassed its useful life. It has begun to degrade, causing the biofilter to sink. This proposed project would support the installation of a new media to build the biofilter back up to its original design level. The project is included in the City of Hayward's FY 2023-2032 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). Per the owner, as of May 25, 2022, the FY 2023-2032 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) is expected to be adopted on June 6, 2022 and a public hearing will be held on June 7, 2022. The owner has also stated that there will be a work session on May 17, 2022. The owner stats that they have not started design on this project and a timeline for construction has not been determined. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
