The Industrial Development Authority of Tazewell County, Virginia is soliciting bids from qualified businesses to provide complete asbestos abatement and removal at the site of the former Raven Elementary School. A further detail of the approximate amount of material to be removed and required work practices may be found on the attached Invitation for Bids. Approximate Amount of Material to be Removed/Disposed: (1) Approximately 4,200 square feet of asbestos-containing floor tile and associated mastic, along with overlying carpeting or non-asbestos floor tiles. (2) Approximately 300 linear feet of asbestos-containing pipe insulation above the ceiling in the older "A-Wing" above the plaster ceiling and in the boiler room. (3) Dismantling and disposal of the older boiler and all associated asbestos insulation, gaskets, etc. at Contractor's expense. (4) Approximately 65 mudded elbows on fiberglass pipes running above the drop ceiling in the hallways and classrooms. (5) All exterior and fire doors. (6) All hockey-puck-style mastic dots adhering black and whiteboards to classroom walls within the newer "B-Wing". (7) All the cove base mastic in "C-Wing" (trace asbestos material). (8) All metal framed windows along the front and brick sections of the facility (approximately 12 banks of 22 windows each (trace asbestos material).
