Saving Project...

Site work and renovation of a museum in Montreal, Quebec. Design plans call for the renovation of a 74,000-square-foot museum; and for site work for a museum.

The project PHI Contemporain will house 6,900 m2 program space located on land of significant historical value in the east of Montreal's historic district, Old Montreal. The intervention site is made up of four interconnected historic buildings and a vacant lot. The PHI Contemporain project will include specialized exhibition spaces, educational spaces, a network of new media galleries, mediation, research and studio spaces, spaces dedicated to artist residencies and a generous public domain that will include informal and formal development and areas of activity and use. The project also includes improvements on Bonsecours and Saint-Paul streets in a new urban context. The scope of work includes demolition, construction, renovation, interior fittings and installation of fixed equipment, renovation of infrastructure and site upgrades. TIMELINE: Following the second stage of the International architectural competition 2108_PHI-C_Con the owner has selected from five proponents two architectural firms that will work in consortium on the project design and construction work monitoring. These are: - Berlin architectural firm Kuehn Malvezzi and - Montreal firm Pelletier de Fontenay. Preliminary studies and conceptual design have started. Schedules of further project development are being finalized. Construction completion is not anticipated before 2026.
