The City of Port Huron, Michigan desires to construct a new six-bay Central Fire Station at the present location of White Park. White Park is located on 10th Street between White and Chestnut Streets. This new station will combine operations at the Fire Department's current Central Station (515 River Street) and Station #4 (3114 24th Street). The City also requires minor improvements to Station #3 (1914 Sanborn Street) in order to accommodate an increase in assigned personnel and extend the building's life by a minimum of 10 years. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time. The new Central Fire Station is estimated to be approximately 22,000 square feet in area including a six-bay apparatus room, equipment and personnel decontamination facilities, a training facility, living quarters for up to nine suppression personnel, and administrative offices for on-duty fire officers and one administrative training officer. Site requirements include parking spaces for 20 vehicles, drive-through apparatus bays, a training tower, and an outbuilding of approximately 2,500 square feet. A copy of a conceptual site plan prepared by Redstone Architects, Inc. in 2020 is attached to this RFQ. The space needs assessment, upon which the conceptual plans were developed, will be provided to the selected Firm. The selected Firm will need to conduct an updated and revised space needs assessment. The estimated construction budget for the building and site, including general conditions and contractor's overhead and profit, is estimated to be approximately $8,000,000 based on an early-2023 construction start.
