Interior and Exterior Painting of Kihei Fire Station The intent ofthe specification is to describe the repair, surface preparation and painting ofthe selected exterior and apparatus bay surfaces at the subject properties. Those surfaces not specifically accounted for in this specification but reasonably concluded as being within the intent and scope ofthis work, shall be considered as having been specified for appropriate treatment, subject to approval by the Fire Services ChiefRylan Yatsushiro. The specification written is to provide recommendations to furnish a protective paint and/or coating system to achieve certain aesthetic, protective and/or corrosion resistant features. The project consists ofthe complete exterior and interior of the Kihei Fire Station to include the apparatus bay. Painting of all above ground fuel tanks shall also be included in the proposal. The lockers, roofing, and gutters are excluded in this painting project. The contractor shall provide all labor, material and equipment required to complete all surface preparation, cleaning, repairs, restoration, patching, priming, and painting as indicated in this specification and shall be responsible for material takeoff. All necessary scaffolding and equipment shall conform to the State and Federal regulation. All the contractor's personnel shall have completed industry required fall protection classes. The contractor shall be responsible for the inspection of all repair work done by others prior to this paint application. Ifthese surfaces are not in a ready condition for painting, the contractor shall prepare the surface in a manner conducive to produce a finish that will meet the specifications spelled out in this section. Ifthe contractor continues his application without proper preparation, he shall assume all risks and liability ofthat work done before him. The contractor shall be responsible for all required, listed and identified surface repairs and preparations. The contractor shall provide all necessary environmental controls. The contractor shall contain and properly dispose ofpressure washing effluent so that it does not flow into the County's storm drainage system or leave the project site. Ifpainted surfaces will be prepared by grinding or sanding, the contractor shall retain a qualified person to test the painted surface for lead and, iflead is confirmed, to provide the contractor with guidance and oversight for following CFR 1926.62.
