Site work and renovation of a civil project in Binbrook, Ontario. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project; and for the renovation of a water / sewer project.
The Binbrook Conservation Area is located at 5050 Harrison Road within the City of Hamilton. It was acquired by the NPCA in 1968. This Conservation Area is a key property within the NPCA landholdings and is situated within a strategic location to attract over half a million residents from Hamilton, Haldimand and west Niagara. The Conservation Area is 396 hectares (978 acres) in size; in which Lake Niapenco represents 174 hectares (430 acres). This reservoir represents the largest inland lake in the Niagara Peninsula watershed, and serves as the headwaters of the Welland River, with an operational dam controlling flow into the Niagara Region. General Scope of Work: Overall, the scope of work for upgrades to the Binbrook Conservation Area water system include: 1) Development of the new water supply well with compressed air pumping and surging to improve raw water turbidity. 2) Supply and install one (1) submersible pump equipped with a constant pressure controller/ variable frequency drive (VFD) in the new well. 3) Decommissioning of the existing well located in the treatment building. 4) Supply and install 185 m of raw water piping from the new well to the treatment building in a common trench with the required electrical power supply and controls to facilitate well pump operation. 5) Supply and install specified water treatment and process equipment within the treatment building with the understanding that some of the existing components including (but not limited to) cartridge filters, chlorine dosing systems, and ultraviolet disinfection units will be reused. 6) The removal of existing equipment within the treatment building as needed to install the specified equipment. The equipment to be removed may include but is not limited to existing process piping, flow meter(s), filters, all related mechanical and electrical appurtenances, and shelving. The following is a separate provisional item that may be included in the overall scope: 7) Supply and install one (1) submersible pump in the existing below-grade treated water storage tank equipped with a constant pressure controller/VFD.
