Remodeling of a library in Stockton, California. Working plans call for the remodel of a library.
As of November 20, 2025, this project is in construction documents. Information regarding a general contractor has not been released. Construction is expected to begin during fourth quarter of 2026. REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS (RFP) CESAR CHAVEZ LIBRARY REMODEL - Professional Services for the Cesar Chavez Library project located in Downtown Stockton (NW corner of El Dorado Street and Oak Street. Consultant to provide services to prepare renovation plans, specifications and estimates to update the existing library. Updates includes, but not limited to, redesign of the interior public spaces, hazardous materials assessment/abatement, refinish/replace all floor surfaces, paint interior of building, build out administrative offices on second floor, update electrical and mechanical systems, install new elevators, replace ceiling tiles, renovate and create new meeting spaces, and all other components necessary to complete a modern library. Each proposal shall be submitted as one packet and shall be accompanied by the Non-Collusion Declaration and all of the required documents and information. The pricing shall be submitted under separate, sealed envelope. Each proposer shall be licensed in accordance with applicable State laws. The City of Stockton encourages local Stockton firms to propose on this project and the City encourages proposers to use local Stockton firms as subconsultants. Accordingly, the Local Business Preference Ordinance applies to this project. Proposers are hereby notified that the successful proposer and any subconsultant under them shall pay prevailing wage rates in accordance with the State of California Department of Industrial Relations. A contract will be awarded to proposer who best meets the needs of the City; provided, however, that the City Council reserves the right to reject any and all proposals and to re-advertise for proposals or to provide for the work to be done by the City of Stockton.
