That’s the question the Nobles County Board of Commissioners faces, as it continues mulling over how to allocate its federal American Rescue Plan Act money. At their Wednesday work session, commissioners received a lengthy list of the county’s own upcoming capital improvement projects to add to an existing lineup of outside requests for portions of the county’s ARPA funds from local cities and other infrastructure management entities. Initially commissioners’ discussion centered on distributing the money to those other local entities for infrastructure work, and then it was ruled that counties may use up to $10 million of its ARPA money as “lost revenue” for providing general government services — meaning Nobles County can now use the money itself. “Every dollar we spend on these (county) projects is a dollar less that we have to levy for in the future,” said Commissioner Justin Ahlers. ____________________________________________________________ Bids sought for tuckpointing work on Worthington Armory building.
