Site work for a water / sewer project in King George, Virginia. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
This is a Design Build project and is generally described as the removal of historic headstones along approx. 10,000 linear feet of shoreline along the Potomac River at Chotank Creek Natural Area Preserve and transfer to a relocated cemetery in Landover, MD and developing drawings and specifications for the design and installation of shoreline stabilization at the site where the headstones were recovered. RFQ proposals will be evaluated on the Proposers demonstrated ability in conducting hauling operations of historically sensitive material, shoreline stabilization design & construction, road restoration, and the ability to conduct a clean and respectful operation on private property. All inquiries for information regarding the IFQ and IFB shall be submitted via e-mail to To: Daniel Cox e-mail: daniel.cox@dcr.virginia.gov Anticipated Construction Start Date: May, 2022 Anticipated Construction Duration: 210 calendar days (Seven (7) months) The Owner reserves the right to visit the office(s) of an Offeror to verify any claim(s) made by an Offeror regarding staff, facilities, capabilities, qualifications and any other reasonable concerns that may arise on the part of the Owner. In such an event, the Offeror must make every reasonable attempt to clarify any concerns expressed by the Owner 1. This is a design build project. RFQ proposals will be evaluated on the Proposer's demonstrated ability in conducting hauling operations of historically sensitive material, shoreline stabilization design & construction, road restoration, and the ability to conduct a clean and respectful operation on private property. 2. Recover in-tact headstones from the shoreline and sawmill stockpile area along the Potomac River at the Chotank Creek Natural Area Preserve/Cedar Creek farm in King George County, VA. Stockpile and transfer the recovered headstones to a relocated cemetery, located in Landover, Maryland. Those headstones which are nonidentifiable will be stockpiled for later use. 3. Development of sealed working drawings and specifications for the design (TBD in the RFP process) and installation of shoreline stabilization such as but not limited to rip rap armoring, breakwaters and revetments. The shoreline stabilization will occur along the stretch of river where headstones were recovered. Approximately 10,000 linear feet. 4. Incorporated into the shoreline stabilization design will be the installation of the Harmony living shoreline memorial (TBD in the RFP process), using the stockpiled headstones that are considered non-identifiable or non-recoverable. And the Re-establishment of existing shore parallel "roadway" for use during construction and for continued access along the shoreline for viewing the "Harmony Living Shoreline" 3. Obtain all local, state and federal permits including but not limited to: Army Corp of Engineers (ACOE) wetlands and jurisdictional permits, Virginia Marine Resources Commission (VMRC), Department of Historic Resources (DHR), Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) land disturbance and storm water permits, and State Environmental Impact Report (EIR), Art & Architectural Review Board (AARB). Any and all environmental permitting as required by the State of Maryland. 4. All permitting fees and mitigations as required 5. Construction of the project as per a set of sealed plans and specifications in accordance with, and to the standards for design documents of the State of Virginia, Capital Outlay Construction & Professional Services Manual.
