The Lakeshore Park Four-Seasons Building Project is located at the north end of the Punhoqua Street right-of-way, adjacent to both the northeast end of the existing Lakeshore Park pond network and the Fox River. The Project site also sits at the interface between Lakeshore Park and Rainbow Memorial Park and is intended to serve both facilities. Consisting of an 87-space surface parking lot, a 3,700 square foot building, and exterior deck and patio spaces that wrap all sides of the building, the Project is designed to fully-leverage the relationship between the building and its context. The building will be elevated five feet (5') relative to the surrounding park to ensure the structure sits above the 100-year floodplain. This relationship will create a prominent position for the building and will enhance views to the river and park from the building, its deck, and its terrace. Concrete walks will connect the parking and drop-off areas to the public plaza, the building, and the raised terrace. A set of concrete stairs will afford direct access to the main building entrance from both the parking lot and the drop-off area. A sloped walk will angle from the north edge of the parking lot to the building's main entrance, sloping gradually at approximately 4.5%, eliminating the need for handrails and landings along the length of the approach. Where the Riverfront Trail currently terminates at the end of the Punhoqua Street right-of-way, a new extension of the trail will extend south to the intersection of Veterans Trail and Punhoqua Street at the west end of Rainbow Memorial Park. Both vehicular and pedestrian circulation networks are designed to be efficient and light on the land, while anticipating potential expansion and connections to future phase park construction. Programmatically, the building consists of a large assembly room space that has the ability to be rented for public or private use. This assembly room is supported by a pair of multi-user restrooms, a Mechanical/Storage Room, and a Food Prep/Warming Kitchen. Outdoor deck and patio spaces wrapping all sides of the building will also have the ability to be partially rented, and are supported by a pair of single-user gender neutral restrooms.
