The project consists of furnishing the following supplies, equipment, and/or services. Bid Package 02-1 Demolition: Full demolition of the existing Ames High School including complete removal and disposal of the existing high school and pool building structures in their entirety including below grade work such as foundations, walls, footings and underground utilities. The existing high school is approximately 340,000 square feet. The demolition will be bid as one contract but will be conducted in two parts. The first part will be the demolition of the existing pool structure and will begin in March 2022 and be completed in April 2022. The demolition of the remainder of the high school will begin in November 2022 and be completed in March 2023. Bid Package 32-3 Exterior Improvements: Work includes seeding, sodding, plant materials, and site furnishings. This Work will be bid as one contract but will be conducted in two parts. The first part will be for the areas around the new high school. This work is expected to begin in March 2022 and be completed in August 2022. The second part will be for the areas west of the new high school on the site of the existing high school. This work will begin after the demolition of the existing high school and is expected to begin in June 2023 and be completed in the Fall of 2023. Bids shall be on a lump sum basis; segregated sub-bids will not be accepted. Bidders may bid on more than one Bid Package; however, combined bids will not be accepted. Award of each separate Contract shall be to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder determined on the basis of a combination of the Base Bid and selected Alternates. A Construction Manager has been engaged for this project to serve as an advisor to Owner and to provide assistance in administering the agreements between Owner and Contractors, according to a separate contract between Owner and Construction Manager. Issuance #3 is the third of four anticipated issuances. The balance of the work on the project will be bid at future date. A public hearing will be conducted at a meeting to be held at the Board Room at the District Office at 2005 24th St., Ames IA 50010, at 5:30 p.m., on the 13th day of December, 2021, at which time and place any person may appear and file objections to the proposed plans, specifications, form of contract, and the estimated cost of said project. Bid security in the amount of 5% of the total bid in the form of certified check, credit union share draft, or surety bond written on an original AIA Document A310, Bid Bond is required for this project. The successful bidder will be required to provide surety Performance and Payment Bonds in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract Sum. The award of the contract may be made by the Ames Community School District to any responsible bidder or bidders offering suitable supplies, equipment and/or service at the lowest price taking into consideration the quality of materials or service in the best interest of the Owner. The right is reserved to reject any and all bids, or any part thereof, and to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract or contracts as shall be deemed in the best interest of the Owner.
