**As of November 16, 2021, project has not been awarded. The Town of Carolina Beach is currently seeking proposals for the dredging of Carolina Lake in Carolina Beach, NC. The scope of work will include dredging to an average depth of six feet, removing approximately 50,000cy of material to a location determined The project Scope of work will consist of completing the dredging of Carolina Lake. This will include excavation to a maximum depth of -6 feet in elevation, removing an estimated 50,000 cubic yards of spoils to a location determined by the contractor. The contractor is responsible for the proper disposal of any removed materials and to comply with the local, state, and federal requirements. The Town does not have a viable spoil disposal site or temporary stockpile area. Dredging shall result in the creation of a stable profile to ensure the integrity of the lake bank. The Contractor will be required to return all disturbed areas around the lake to pre-construction conditions at the end of the project. Location description: The project site is located at Carolina Lake in Carolina Beach. New Hanover County, North Carolina. Carolina Lake is surrounded by single-family residences and roadways, with non-tidal wetlands to the south, and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. Description of projects area and activity: This verification authorizes the excavation of approximately 9.8 acres of Carolina Lake to a maximum depth of-6.0 feet in elevation. Approximately 0.48 acre of vegetated wetlands will be excavated from the pond. A 20-foot buffer would be implemented between the limits of the excavation work and the edge of bank to minimize disturbance to shoreline habitat. Approximately 94,667 cubic yards of dredge spoil material will be removed from the lake and taken by sealed dump trucks to an appropriate, self-contained upland disposal site. A Bid Bond in the amount of 5% of the contract value is required. To be considered a responsible and responsive bidder the contractor must include all required insurance, license, and bonds in the submitted bid package. Contractors must not be debarred from doing work in the State of North Carolina ll required MBE Forms shall be included by the bidder as part of the bid package. Bidders shall be responsible for understanding all federal, state, and local MBE requirements. The lowest responsive, responsible bid will be selected.
