The St. Cloud Civic Center opened in 1988 as a 110,000 square foot convention facility. In January 2012 the second phase of a major expansion was completed, bringing the facility to 195,000 square feet. The facility was re-named the Rivers Edge Convention Center. After several years effort the City secured state bonding support for completion of the project - an $11.56 million parking ramp adjacent to the facility. The ramp was completed in December 2016. The original building is now 30 years old and requires replacement of some major mechanical elements. In 2019, the City engaged the Apex group to assess and inventory mechanical and structural needs of our community facilities. Major critical expenditures needed at the Convention Center: - Replacement of original roof - $1,510,000 - Replacement of original roof top units and HVAC controls - $2,100,000 - Replacement of original boilers, pumps and air handling - $530,000 Project is in City of Saint Cloud capital budget fy 2025-2030. As of January 6, 2025, per owner, this project has not and is not moving forward at this time. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
