Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Wichita, Kansas. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; for paving for a bridge / tunnel; road / highway; road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; and sidewalk / parking lot.
As of November 24, 2021, the project has been awarded to Pearson Construction LLC for $224,754.50. Temporary Asphalt Pavement. All temporary asphalt pavement on the project shall be 6" asphalt meeting the specifications for City of Wichita BC-1 mix. Approved Materials List. A list of materials approved for use on City of Wichita construction projects can be found on the City website. All approved materials shall conform to the appropriate requirements set forth in the Standard Specifications, and shall have been previously approved by the Material Review Board (MRB). Information on obtaining approval for new materials through the MRB is available on the website. Pipe Backfill. All box culvert, storm sewer, duct bank, waterline and sanitary sewer excavation under proposed pavement shall be sand filled and flushed (jetted and vibrated) per City Standard Specifications, unless flowable fill or other improved backfill material is otherwise specified. The sand fill shall start at the top of improved bedding and be brought up uniformly to an elevation 12 inches above the top of pipe, or 2 feet below the bottom of proposed pavement, whichever is higher. However, in no instance shall the sand fill be brought up to less than 6 inches below the pavement subbase material. Storm sewer adjacent to the back of curb and sanitary sewer in front and side lots shall also be sand filled per this provision, to within 2 feet of final grade. All costs for sand filling and flushing shall be included in the unit price bid for "Fill, Sand (Flushed & Vibrated)". This item shall be paid for at the unit price bid per linear foot of trench filled, regardless of trench depth and/or pipe size, unless indicated otherwise by the plans or contract. Erosion Control - Biodegradable Log (9"). The project shall utilize biodegradable logs (9") in place of silt fence for erosion control and paid as measured quantity lineal feet BMP, Biodegradable Log (9"). Removal of Erosion Control Devices. The Contractor shall remove all erosion control devices on the project once all vegetation has been established to 70% coverage by area. All erosion control device removal shall be subsidiary to the bid item Site Restoration.Temporary Seeding. Temporary seeding costs for both the sod and seeding areas shall be subsidiary to the permanent seeding and sod bid items. There will not be a pre-bid conference, all questions need to be asked through e-mail or phone call A bid bond in the amount of five percent (5%) Of the total bid or an annual bid bond is required prior to bid Opening The contract shall be awarded on the basis of the lowest responsible Base Bid, provided the bid is within the Engineer's Estimate. If applicable, Add Alternate(s) may be accepted as determined by the City after the bids are opened, as available funding may allow. Liquidated Damages shall be assessed in the amount of $1,000 per day according to the City of Wichita Specifications. For comments that affect bid items and/or quantities: Noon Tuesday prior to bid opening. For questions and comments requiring clarification only: Noon Wednesday prior to bid opening.
