This project will provide funding for intersection improvements at Belcher Road. Belcher Road is approximately 2.2 miles in length and connects U.S. Hwy. 176 to Old Furnace Road. The road currently serves close to 3,500 vehicles per day; however, with continued development in this area, it is anticipated that average daily counts will increase. An intersection improvement (likely a roundabout) is scheduled to be performed at the intersection of Belcher and Old John Dodd Roads. This project directly supports Council's strategic vision by being a core component of the County's infrastructure plan. The project also improves services provided to citizens by upgrading a roadway in a highly traveled corridor of the County As of December 19, 2023, this project is included in the Spartanburg County 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). Initial funding for this project was provided in FY2020/21. Engineering and right-of-way acquisition is complete. Construction is anticipated to begin during FY2023/24.
