All questions are to be submitted by 5 p.m., November 22, 2021 The purpose of this document is to identify the scope of the Work for the roof replacement for Miller Elementary School, identify the insurance and bond requirements, and describe the roofing materials and associated systems for the Work. The Roofing Contractor shall comply with the Drawings, installation instructions and requirements provided by the roofing manufacturer for a completed roof system with full manufacturer's warranty. Bid security shall be submitted with each bid in the amount of 5 percent of the bid amount. No bids may be withdrawn for a period of 60 days after opening of bids. Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive informalities and irregularities. Upon notice of award, the Contractor shall secure and pay for required Performance Bond, Labor and Material Payment Bond, and Statutory Bond in the amount of 100 percent of the Contract Sum of the award. Bonds shall be submitted on AIA Bond forms A-311. Statutory Bonds shall be registered per requirement of State of Kansas 60-110. The Work can be described briefly without effect or influence on the requirements of documents listed below as follows for Miller Elementary. 1. Remove roofing plies; all roof insulation; all membrane flashings at parapets; all wood nailers, all metal and membrane flashings; and all metal coping caps in the areas for roof replacement. 2. Replace with new roof insulation to the required thickness, new cover board, new 2-ply styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) modified bituminous membrane roofing, new walkway pads, new membrane flashings at parapet wall, new roof expansion joints, new metal and membrane flashings at scuppers, new metal coping caps, and membrane flashings at skylights, mechanical units and piping.
