Bidders will be required to provide a security deposit,in the form of an approved Bid Bond,cashiers or certified check,or certified share draft in the amount of five percent (5%) of the amount of each bid,in a separate attached envelope. Consideration of the bids received and the award of contract or other action may be made by the Board of Directors of the Des Moines Independent Community School District upon the proposals received in accordance with the law and the plans and specifications at its meeting to be held at 6:00 p.m. on February 1, 2022 in the District Board Room at 1800 Grand Avenue Des Moines Iowa or at any other published and/or posted location of the Board meeting. The Board of Directors may make the award to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder meeting specifications. The right is reserved to reject any or all bids, or any part thereof, and to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract or contracts as shall be deemed in the best interests of the Des Moines Independent Community School District. By virtue of statutory authority, a preference will be given to products and provisions grown and coal produced within the State of Iowa, and to Iowa domestic labor. All bids will be governed by applicable provisions in the Iowa Code and Board Policies. The project includes is a partial Re-Roofing Project for approximately 78,000 sq. ft. of roof area as reflected in the construction documents Work performed under the Contract Documents for this project comprises the complete construction of the Project and includes: Lump Sum Contract will be awarded for the Total Construction of the work, including All Construction Work Relating to this Re-Roofing Project of the designated McCombs Middle School - Re-Roofing Project except for all Existing Roof Areas as noted on drawings indicated as "No Work". DMPS McCombs Middle School - Re-Roof Project, consist of the following: which includes remove all designated wet insulation and associated Modified Bitumen Membrane. Mechanically screw-fastened or fully adhere new polyisocyanurate insulation to steel roof deck. Install new tapered roof insulation as shown on drawings matching the existing roof thickness and install 60 mil TPO membrane sheet air sealed over new insulation patch. After replacing all wet roof system areas then install under Base Bid new 2" thick loose laid insulation, new loose laid gypsum protection board and vented TPO membrane roof system. Install new wood blocking and sheathing as shown on details. Install associated metal roof edge, counter, parapet and misc. flashings and other misc. repairs as shown in specification and on drawings with all work appurtenant thereto. There is an Alternate Bid #1 option to replace all wet roof system area with new tapered polyisocyanurate insulation screw fastened to steel roof deck and then install a 60 Mil TPO Membrane roof system with new 2" thick screw fastened insulation, adhered gypsum protection board with low rise foam adhesive and a Fully Adhered 60 mil TPO membrane roof system. Provide and install new wood blocking and sheathing as shown on details in Preform all misc. repairs and as shown on drawings and required on specifications
