The overall project scope includes paving an existing earth path in the Cook County Forest Preserve from IL 59 to the CN right of way; paving an existing gravel access road along the west side of the CN right of way from Shoe Factory Road, going under the I-90 and Hoffman Boulevard bridges; and creating a path and/or an on-street route on Pratum Avenue and Prairie Stone Parkway in the business park to connect to the Prairie Stone Wellness Center. Duluth Trading installed path along its property frontage. The Park District and Forest Preserve are funding partners on this project. The Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP) federal grant will pay 80% of the cost of the project. The scope of the grant includes all three phases of engineering plus construction. The timing of construction on the north-south leg will depend upon CN Agreement and IDOT approvals. The east-west section through the Forest Preserve was completed in 2020. The north -south section needs approval from the railroad so that is shown as a separate phase which will need new funding. As of May 19, 2022, this project is included in the Village's FY 2022-2029 Budget CIP and construction is planned for 2024. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
