Renovation of an educational facility in Los Angeles, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 195,961-square-foot, six-story above grade educational facility.
Sealed bids for a lump sum subcontract are invited from prequalified Rebar subcontractors (hereinafter Subcontractors) for the following work: UCLA Public Affairs Building Seismic Improvements Project Number 908010.01 Bid Package 21 - Rebar The existing 6-story, 195,961 GSF building, built in two phases in 1957 and 1959, houses offices and classrooms, largely occupied by the Luskin School of Public Affairs and various departments of Social Sciences, as well as the Arts Library and general assignment classrooms. The work consists of performing seismic improvements to the existing PAB building on the UCLA campus. The Public Affairs Building (PAB) building consists of three seismically separate areas: The Public Affairs Building, the Data Processing Center Building and the Arts Library Building. The scope was determined through seismic analysis conducted under a separate project. The project scope includes the demo and put back of spaces required for the construction of the seismic retrofits as well as code required accessibility upgrades in the building including plumbing fixtures, restrooms, drinking fountains, doors, and signage as well as path of travel upgrades for accessible parking and site features. Demo and put back scope includes the removal and replacement of floor, ceiling, and wall finishes in the seismic scope areas as well as replacement or re-installation of existing impacted fixtures and furnishing including but not limited to casework, AV (speakers / projectors / projection screens), lighting, and fixed furniture systems. Scope includes re-routing of mechanical, plumbing, and electrical elements (ductwork / piping / conduit) blocking construction access for seismic improvements. AHU-5 located in the basement level of the Public Affairs Building and serving the Arts Library will be replaced. The University has bid and awarded a CM at Risk Contract to PCL Construction Services, Inc. (hereafter "CM/Contractor"). CM/Contractor is responsible for bidding and awarding all subsequent subcontractor packages, including this package. The successful Subcontractor Bidder shall sign a Subcontract Agreement directly with CM/Contractor, and shall be bound by all the terms of the contract between University and CM/Contractor. Refer to "Exhibit H", which contains the contract between University and CM/Contractor, attached to the subcontract bidding documents and incorporated by this reference. Bid Package 21 & Rebar (this contract): This Bid Package consists of all rebar scope. LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: The successful Bidder will be required to have the following California current and active contractor's license at the time of submission of the Bid: C50 PREQUALIFICATION: The CM/Contractor has prequalified Rebar Subcontractor bidders for this Bid Package and posted a list of said firms on the SmartBid website. Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University policy. Each Bidder may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy. The successful Bidder and its subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the contract between the University and the CM/Contractor and to pay prevailing wage at the location of the work. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. No contractor or subcontractor, regardless of tier, may be listed on a Bid for, or engage in the performance of, any portion of this project, unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 and 1771.1. This project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the Department of Industrial Relations. Public Affairs Building Address: 337 Charles E.
