This project provides for the milling and asphalt overlay of the Pennsylvania Turnpike mainline from Milepost 345.73 to Milepost 353.47. The project involves replacing the wearing and binder courses of the existing travel lanes, bridge deck repair, and replacing the wearing course over Bridge No. DB-220, DB-222, and DB-223. Work also includes maintenance and protection of traffic. Work items include, but are not limited to: 32,263 TON Superpave Asphalt Mixture Design, Wearing 17,174 TON Superpave Asphalt Mixture Design, Binder 197,100 SY Milling of Asphalt Pavement, 1 1/2 " Depth 48,800 SY Milling of Asphalt Pavement, 2" Depth 118,480 SY Milling of Asphalt Pavement, 4" Depth 916 LF Concrete Glare Screen with Drainage Slot Either: 100,800 GAL Asphalt Or: 88,200 LB Polyurethane 127,324 LF 6" White Highly Reflectorized Polyurea Pavement Markings 83,800 LF 6" Yellow Highly Reflectorized Polyurea Pavement Markings 1,250 SF Concrete Bridge Deck Repair - Type 2 1,959 LF Asphaltic Plug Expansion Joint System Milepost 345.73 is located approximately 5.9 miles west of the Bensalem Interchange, Exit 351, and Milepost 353.47 is located approximately 1.8 miles east of the Bensalem Interchange, Exit 351. The proposal and plans are published electronically in EBS and are available to registered business partners for downloading and printing. An electronic bid bond, from an approved vendor, with corporate surety, in the amount of five (5%) percent of the bid must be submitted with the proposal as bid security. The bid security of the three (3) low bidders will be retained until the execution of the contract. (The normal time for execution of the contract is approximately four [4] weeks.) A Prequalification Certification and Applicable Capacity Rating assigned by the Prequalification Office of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is a necessary prerequisite for bidding on this project. The opening and listing of bids not meeting all the terms and conditions of the bid advertisement or bid procedures does not act as a waiver or modification of any requirements contained in the bid advertisement or bid procedure. The Provisions of the Pennsylvania Prevailing Wage Act of August 15, 1961, P.L. 987, as amended, together with the rates and regulations promulgated by the Secretary of Labor and Industry applicable thereto, shall apply to this contract.
