Site work for a water / sewer project in Des Moines, Iowa. Conceptual plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

The Des Moines Water Works ("Water Works") is requesting quotes from qualified surveying/engineering consulting firms for professional land surveying services for the 2022 Des Moines Water Main Replacement Contract 1 - Luster Lane & SW 9th Street. The area to be surveyed is in Polk County, Iowa. The streets to be surveyed are Luster Lane, from Southview Drive to SW 9th Street and SW 9th Street, from Burnham Avenue to Luster Lane (see Exhibit "A"). The purpose of this work is to obtain topographical survey data to assist in the design of new water main. Consultant shall provide the following services: 1. Complete a topographical survey for determining the configuration of the ground surface and location of natural and artificial objects within the project area as shown on Exhibit "A". This shall include, but is not limited to, the following features: a. Provide elevation points: i. Every 100 feet along the center line of roadway and right-of-way. ii. Across the entire right-of-way width. iii. 50 feet from the edge of road at each public intersection. iv. Spot grades at high points. v. Spot grades at low points. vi. Spot grades at grade changes. vii. Points required are located at the right-of-way line, driveways and aprons, back of curb, and edge of pavement. b. Contact Iowa OneCall prior to survey. All underground utility markings provided by Iowa OneCall shall be located on the survey plan right-of-way to right-of-way. c. The location and identification of one benchmark every 1/4 mile based on NAVD88 as a vertical datum. The location and description of all benchmarks by the Consultant shall be included and shown on the survey. d. The location of all aboveground features which includes, but is not limited to, light poles, utility poles, utility boxes, traffic lights, mail boxes, hydrants, water main stop boxes, sidewalks, retaining walls, decorative landscaping, fences, bushes, mature trees and saplings (trunk diameter to be measured), signage, striping, and overhead wires inside the public rightof-way. e. The location of all underground features which includes, but is not limited to, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water main, water main services, and sanitary services inside the public right- of-way. Data to include location and elevation of inverts, flow direction and size and material of pipes. f. The location of all underground features which includes, but is not limited to, gas, electric, fiber optic, and telephone lines inside the public right-of-way. g. The location and elevation of public right-of-way, monuments marking corner for property boundaries, monuments marking the position of section corners, 1/4 section corner that are part of the Public Land Survey System, edge of field and other survey markers. The source of boundary line shall be shown. Each property shall be labeled with its street address. Accuracy of right-of-way to be within one (1) foot. Consultant to provide the following: 1. PDF file in Adobe Acrobat Document (.pdf) format, size to be ANSI D 22" x 34" minimum. 2. CAD files in MicroStation V8i (Select Series 3) format. 3. The shot file in CSV format. 4. A topography map with the following items: a. Coordinate System: United States/State Plane 1983 Iowa South 1402, GEOID 12A. b. Vertical Datum to be provided using the North American Vertical Datum of 1988. c. North Arrow and Graphic Scale 1:1. d. Contours in 1-foot intervals. e. Base map features which include, but is not limited to, items stated in the Scope of Work, a. - h. f. Feature code library which consists of a text file that contains the definitions of feature codes, attributes, linework, and control codes. Use of Documents 1. The Water Works shall own and have unlimited rights to copy and use all data and reports provided by the Consultant to the Water Works. The Water Works shall own all copyrights to the work product that are provided by the Consultant to the Water Works. All work product provided by the Consultant to the Water Works shall be considered work for hire under the United States Copyright Act and, at all stages of development, shall be and remain the sole and exclusive property of the Water Works. 2. The parties agree that the work shall not be used on another or unrelated project without consultant's written permission and that the Water Works will indemnify consultant (including employees, and sub consultants) from claims resulting from such reuse. Hourly Rates and Lump Sum Price: Consultant shall provide a Level of Effort Summary showing the average hourly rate by labor classification and provide a detailed breakdown of work hours and labor costs for each street and the total not to exceed Lump Sum Price. Schedule: Consultant shall provide detailed schedule showing estimated completion dates for each street. Work shall be completed no later than January 1, 2022. The Water Works recognizes that legal holidays and unfavorable weather may affect this completion date. The Consultant shall issue the Water Works a written request for an extension of time under these circumstances until conditions are again favorable for resumption of Work. The Method of Contractor Selection has not been determined at this time. As of August 22, 2023, no new information available
