As of September 13, 2022, this project has been awarded. Although a firm timeline for construction has not been determined, construction is not expected to start prior to October of 2022. The project includes construction of a Detention basin west of the existing Ray Smucker Park. The basin will be fonned by constructing an earthen embankment, which will generally run parallel to, and on the East side of the East Main Canal, and will tie into the existing slope on the north and south side of the project. The new Detention basin includes and elevated pathway bifurcating the basin from east to west. An underground pipe will hydraulically connect north end of the basin to the outlet pipe, which will be constructed near the south end of the basin. Two large, highly specialized concrete box culverts entering the basin from the east will bring storm water to the basin. The Project is located in Yuma County, Arizona. The project is located in the City of Yuma, between Avenue A & East Main Canal, north of 32nd Street, Section 5, Township 9S, Range 23W. A brief description of the work to be performed includes: Construction of a Detention basin west of the existing Ray Smucker Park, embankment construction with embankment central filler, soil nail wall shoring, sheet pile Coffer dam, flood gate, Flood wall, Reno mattress, rip rap, catch basins, basin emergency overflow spillway Storm Drain system, two large, highly specialized concrete box culverts, outlet structures, pathway will be constructed on top of the embankment with ramps leading down into the basin area, a new asphalt access road, a new pump station will be installed, removal of existing pump and discharge line, chain link fence. Removal of several existing storm drain pipes and headwalls. Removal of a section of existing 36-inch sanitary sewer approximately 1,650 feet long, new sewer will be replaced by 1,900 feet of 36-inch centrifugally cast, fiberglass-reinforced, polymer mortar pipe (CCFRPMP) sewer, A section of 18-inch sanitary sewer pipe approximately 560 feet long will also be relocated as part of this project.
