In general the Project includes: All Sub-Bidders must be certified by DCAM for the category of work for no less than the filed sub bid price and must submit with their bid, a valid DCAM Certificate of Eligibility of Sub Bidders in the trade for which they are bidding, along with a valid DCAM Update Statement.Every General Bidder must submit with their bid a Certificate of Eligibility available from DCAM along with an Update statement before the bid may be considered. Washington, Electrical and Fire Pump Upgrades The work shall be completed on or before August 23, 2022 from the Notice to Proceed and in general Minimum rates of wages to be paid on the project have been determined by the Commissioner of Labor & Workforce Development under the provisions of Sections 26 & 27, Chapter 149 of the General Laws. Wages rates are listed in the contract form portion of the specification book. Deposits shall be in the form of a bid bond, treasurer's or cashier's check payable to the university of massachusetts. Deposits shall be returned in accordance with the law. Section miscellaneous & ornamental iron sub-trades 050001 all bid deposits $ (5% of bid amount) electrical work 260001 hvac 230001 painting fire protection sprinkler systems 099000 210001 sub-bids submitted under chapter 149, section 44f, which are restricted to the u.S. By one contractor, which are deemed to be unrealistic in that the price proposed is, in the judgement of this awarding authority, substantially less or more than the actual cost to complete all of the work specified in that section of the specifications will be considered as not responsive to the invitation to bid and shall be rejected. (department of labor & workforce development ruling #136 & #169). All bids for this project are subject to the provisions of either or both Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 30, Section 39M as amended and Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 149, Sections 44A 44I inclusive. The Awarding Authority reserves the right to waive any informalities in or to reject any and all bids if it be in the public interest to do so. Designer: BVH The filed sub-bid question due date: 12/3/2021 2pm. The project consists of upgrade of the fire protection system, main electrical service equipment, and replacement of the emergency electric generator. b. Delivery, hoisting, and installation of rooftop electrical generator by General Contractor. c. Installation of remote fuel tank, pumping system, fuel oil piping between the fuel tank located in the basement and generator located on the roof is required d. Installation of underground fire water line from John Adams House fire pump to Washington House is required e. Installation of fire protection standpipes, pressure reducing valves and all associated appurtenances is required f. Backfill and repair of site surfaces and features affected by underground fire water line installation is required g. Installation of new electrical switchgear, including automatic power transfer switches and associated distribution systems is required h. Installation of fire alarm work is required i. Installation of structural supports for generator is required j. Construction of electrical rooms, closets, chases, ceilings upgrades is required k. Asbestos and PCB abatement is required l. Installation of rooftop guardrail and rooftop flashing is required. m. The work shall be designed and constructed so as to meet all requirements of the Massachusetts State Building Code, current edition, in addition to all other applicable codes and regulations. The building site is the existing Washington House, Building 356 located at 181 Fearing Street, Amherst, MA 01002, with related work on the adjacent John Adams House, Building 354, at 161 Fearing Street. The work area and affected site areas site will be landscaped and paved to replace existing landscaping and pavement in-kind. n. The affected building, housing UMA residential functions is a 24-story structure, of Construction Classification Type I, for University Residential use. The bulk of mechanical/electrical equipment areas will be located at the basement level of the building and the mechanical penthouse located on the roof. o. The structural system for the building is cast-in-place concrete framing and floor slabs. The sub-structure is cast-in-place concrete shallow spread footing and wall foundations. The building envelope is generally non-bearing brick façade with aluminum windows and exposed architectural concrete features. The scope of work, without limiting the generality thereof, includes all labor, materials, equipment and services required to perform the work described fully in the Drawings and Specifications and includes, but is not limited to the following major work: 1. Construction of the renovation project including, but not limited to: a. Steel framing. b. Metal gratings. c. Metal stairs and railings. d. Waterproof through-roof interfaces. e. Masonry and concrete work. f. Carpentry, waterproofing, damp-proofing, caulking. g. Doors and windows. h. Interior finishes. i. Fire Protection. j. Mechanical/HVAC. k. Structural. l. Electrical. m. Sitework. n. Asbestos and PCB Abatement. o. Compliance with specification section Disturbance of Lead, Cadmium, Chromium Materials
