Renovation of a medical facility in Los Angeles, California. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a medical facility.
As of September 26 2023, information regarding an award for this solicitation is not available. The owner states that they are hoping to begin construction in February 2024. Closed solicitation has been included below for reference. ……………….. UCLA requests a written response to this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to select an Executive Architect for the proposed replacement of the originally installed Rauland Borg nurse call system at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and the Santa Monica UCLA Medical Center (Project CP 1323). UCLA Health proposes to select an architect to plan the replacement of the existing nurse call system with a new HillRom nurse call system. Response to this RFQ should demonstrate familiarity and experience in the design, planning, and construction/installation of an acute care facility nurse call system, while concurrently decommissioning and replacing an existing nurse call system in multiple actively occupied areas of an acute care facility. The Ronald Reagan Medical Center is 742,000 sq. ft. with 153 ICU beds with booms and 293 Med Surg Rooms; there are 35 ORs and imaging rooms and 25 station Emergency Department. Patient rooms have Hill-Rom headwalls. The Santa Monica UCLA Medical Center is 283,000 sq. ft. with 38 ICU beds with booms and 243 Med Surg Rooms; there are 32 ORs and imaging rooms and a 12 station Emergency Department. Patient rooms have a mix of Modular and Hill-Rom headwalls. The assembled project team for this project must demonstrate experience and familiarity with California hospital requirements, including Department of Public Health requirements (Title 22) and the Department of Healthcare Access and Information, formerly OSHPD, requirements for an OSHPD 1 acute care facility. The analysis of the existing building infrastructure is included in the pre-design phase to ensure the design load and information technology integration requirements of the new core nurse call system are achievable. This RFQ is for full design services comprising of basic architectural services, including schematic design; design development, construction documents, cost estimate, assistance during bid/award phase, construction administration, record documents, and project closeout for replacement of the nurse call system and installation of the new equipment. However, the University reserves the right to defer negotiations concerning services other than pre-design studies until the completion of the pre-design phase. The design shall comply with the University of California Policy on Sustainable Practices to achieve a minimum LEED Healthcare Silver Rating. The construction cost for the project has not yet been determined and is dependent upon phasing. The work may be executed in several phased incremental projects. The anticipated construction cost range may be between the range of $10.0 to $15.0 million total for both facilities depending on the agreed-upon scope of work and phasing. UCLA may select one firm for both projects or separate firms for each project. UCLA will select the firm(s) based on qualifications in response to this RFQ. Candidate firms may submit for one or both of these projects. Candidates do not need to submit two separate sets of booklets if submitting for both projects. Candidates may use the same submittal for both projects, as long as the building(s) of interest are appropriately identified and all submittal requirements are completed for both. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time.
