Highlands and North Pavilion Washer and Sterilizer Replacement University of Alabama at Birmingham Birmingham, Alabama Project No.: H215020. The project consists of the replacement of washers and sterilizers in the Highlands and North Pavilion buildings. The scope of work includes architectural, electrical, and mechanical new work and associated demolition to facilitate the installation of new equipment. The construction budget is anticipated to be between $900,000 and $1,100,000. Work will be performed under strict infection control, security, and interim life safety requirements to ensure the safety of patients, staff and contractor personnel. The Prime General Contractorsseeking to be prequalified shall have experience with similar size and type projects performed in an operating hospital environment and will be responsible for and shall be experienced with: the implementation and maintenance of infection control requirements, interimlife safety measures, coordinating shutdowns,maintaining a clean and organized job site, and performing construction in a functioning Hospital. The work will be performed by a single Prime General Contractor who has experience managing and coordinate work of similar size and scope as a General Contractor (not as a Construction Manager, Program Manager, etc.). Prime General Contractor bidders interested in submitting a proposal must apply for pre-qualification and must be licensed under the Provision of Title 34, Chapter 8, and Code of Alabama, 1975. A copy of current Alabama Contractors license is to be included in pre-qualification submittal. Only bidders who have completed the pre-qualification process and that have been approved will be eligible to submit a bid for the Project. ProspectiveBidder's Pre-qualification Package must be received by the Owner's Project Manager. Pre-qualification Requirements Information Package may be obtained from the Architect upon letterhead request. Any addendums to the prequalification requirements will be issued to documented prime contractors only. The pre-qualification procedure is intended to identify responsible and competent prime contractor biddersrelative to the requirements of the Project. Each prospective prime contractor bidder will be notified of the results of the pre-qualification, on or about December 10, 2021. The Owner reservesthe right to waive technical errors in applications, or abandon the pre-qualification process, should the interests of the Owner appear to be promoted thereby. A certified check or bid bond payable to the University of Alabama at Birminghamin an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the amount of the bid, but in no event more than $10,000 must accompany the bidder's proposal.
