Site work and new construction of an educational facility in Kitwanga, British Columbia. Completed plans call for the construction of a 43,200-square-foot, one-story above grade educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.
The Gitxsan West Steering Committee (GWSC), which represents the Gitxsan West First Nations (Gitanyow, Gitwangak and Gitsegukla), is requesting expressions of interest by established construction companies for the construction of the Gitxsan West Secondary School in Gitwangak, British Columbia. The project consists of a new 4,000 m2 single-story wood-frame building along with site servicing and site improvements, including a 400-metre track and playfield. The new school is sited in an undeveloped land parcel located at the intersection of Highway 37 and Cedarvale Road in Gitwangak, British Columbia. The GWSC intends to develop a short-list of Contractors from this Expression of Interest for a future invitation to submit a bid to construct the project using a CCDC-2 contract form. It is anticipated that the future call for tenders will occur in January 2022 for a construction start of Spring 2022. Construction costs are expected to be in the $15M to $20M range. General Contractors are expected to be fully bonded as per the requirements of the CCDC-2.
