Based on the detailed design, the slopes will be rehabilitated using Deep Soil Mixing (DSM) and Mass Soil Mixing (MSM) methods. The shear strength of the subgrade soils of slopes are to be improved by the mixing of cement with native soils by means of the DSM and MSM methods with the goal of stabilizing the slopes, halting the retrogression, and the reinstating the existing storm pond to its original capacity to the 1:100-year, 24-hour storm event. The qualified contractor will be also responsible for general civil works, site preparation and grading, and finishing works. The general civil works include, but not limited to dewatering of the pond, site surveying assistance, traffic and pedestrian accommodation, restoration of an existing 900 dia storm sewer and 650 dia culvert, quality control testing and environmental management. Along with the site preparation and grading, the contractor will need to construct a cofferdam and install a silt curtain before executing DSM and MSM works. The finishing works include, but are not limited to placing granular filter, rip-rap, topsoil and seeding, and The parking lot, storage area, and fence are within the private properties. Contractors will be required to coordinate with the private land owners on updates/progress. Contractors shall ensure good, effective communication with landowners, dog park users and neighbors during the project. The Town of Stony Plain is requesting qualification submission from qualified construction companies to complete the construction works of the slope remediation of the pond in the 2022 construction season.
