The facility being considered in this study is Killeen Fire Station No. 4 and Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to be located on Trimmier Road, approximately 1-mile south of its intersection with East Stagecoach Road in Killeen, Texas. We understand the scope of the project consists of the design and construction of a single-story fire station building. The proposed buildings is expected to create relatively light structural loads to be carried by the foundation system. Column loads on the order of 40 kips to 80 kips are anticipated for the building structure. Floor systems consisting of slabs-on-ground or slabs-on-fill are expected to be preferred, provided expansive soil-related vertical movements will not cause structural performance concerns. The pavement systems are expected to be comprised of either flexible (asphalt) and/or rigid (concrete) pavements. A permeable pavement system is also planned in the parking lot.
