Lehighton Borough will receive sealed Bids for a Demolition Project at 209 North 1st Street for a Blight Remediation Program Grant for the Pilot Partnership Blight Preservation and Remediation Program issued by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) obtained by Jim Thorpe Borough. The proposed work will include the demolition of the existing building located at 209 North 1st Street in the Borough of Lehighton, Carbon County, Pennsylvania. The bids for this project will include the removal of the entire existing structure along with the removal of all existing concrete basement walls and concrete foundation materials. The project will also include the required restoration work for any adjacent buildings, access areas, and structures currently attached to the existing building along with the establishment of a safe, uniform slope across the lot with permanent vegetation. Work is anticipated to start in January of 2022 and all work shall be completed by April 30, 2022. All bidders are encouraged to attend this pre-bid meeting to review the project area and to ask questions related to the bid package. An acceptable surety company is any one included in the latest issue of the U.S. Treasury Department Circular 570 listings and approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Insurance to do business in Pennsylvania. Attention is called to the fact that not less than the minimum salaries and wages as set forth in the Contract Documents must be paid on this Project, and that the Contractor must ensure that employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of their race, color, religion, sex or national origin. The Borough of Lehighton reserves the right to reject all or any Bids or parts thereof, and waive technicalities as it deems best in the interest of the Borough. Additionally, all unit price and total cost amounts must be completed on the bid sheets to be considered a complete bid. Bids may be held by the Borough of Lehighton for a period not to exceed thirty (30) days from the date of the opening of Bids for the purpose of reviewing the Bids and investigating the qualifications of the Bidders, prior to awarding of the Contract. All bids must be in a sealed envelope marked "A Demolition Project at 209 North 1st Street" and "Attention: Nicole Beckett - Borough Manager".
