Renovation of an educational facility in Waynesville, North Carolina. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

As of November 27, 2023, this project has been cancelled. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: Advanced Planning architectural design services are being solicited for renovations to the Regional High Technology Center (RHTC), the Regional Business Advancement Center (RBAC), and the peripheral parking and service areas connecting the two structures located on contiguous properties at 112 and 144 Industrial Park Dr. Waynesville, NC 28786. The renovations consist of conversion of existing administrative and instructional facilities into a "Workforce & Industry" training center for the college. Services will include Advanced Planning, Schematic Design, and Design Development to the extent practical within the budgeted funds available. The overall design will need to consider potential for construction phasing. Services will also include project assessment for applicability of North Carolina G.S. 143-135.37 "Sustainable Energy-Efficient Buildings Program". The overall project site is approximately 8 acres. Approximately one-third of the acreage is existing parking and paved service area. RHTC is a masonry/steel frame building with masonry interior walls, constructed in 1986, totaling 26,418 square feet of administrative and instructional learning space. The RBAC is predominately a steel frame structure with masonry corridor walls and non-structural wood frame interior walls, constructed in 1985. The RBAC building totals 17,002 square feet and houses minimal instructional lab space along with a majority of currently vacant space. Both buildings are utilized for portions of the college's Workforce Education program. Renovations will include reconfiguration of interior spaces, re-design of existing HVAC systems, repair of exterior building envelopes, interior cosmetic upgrades, and repair of exterior hard-surfaced areas. Work will also include minor reconfiguration and upgrades to the exterior hard-surface areas to accommodate a truck-driver training program. Initial work will include necessary field measurements, programming, budget development, schematic design, and design development. The architect shall assist the assigned "HCC Project Committee" with programming at the beginning of the advanced planning phase. Building programming shall establish clear parameters for addressing educational functionality and physical needs for the facilities being renovated.
