RQM wishes to engage a company to supply new universally designed, CSA approved playpark equipment that includes a large stand-alone playpark structure, a stand-alone swing set, and several independently positioned play pieces. This RFP includes an appendix showing the available land within which all of this equipment must fit as a separate computer-aided design (CAD) drawing file. Interested proponents must submit firm proposals for the supply and installation of all equipment proposed, excluding site preparation and surfacing. Site preparation will be completed by RQM according to specifications provided by the successful proponent, and site surfacing will be tendered at a later date for the entire playpark area once all components and details are finalized. It is expected that any proposal submitted will list the components chosen, rationale and age classification for each piece of equipment, as well as warranty and future required maintenance. Proposals must clearly demonstrate equipment options for all age groups from 2 to 92. The total budget for this RFP including shipping FOB Brooklyn, Queens County, Nova Scotia, but excluding taxes is $165,000. All Proponents must clearly demonstrate that their proposal fully meets all CSA standards and universal design standards and principles. RQM reserves the right to negotiate the contracting of additional services or equipment from the successful Proponent at some future date to update or carry out additional upgrades or maintenance. RQM also reserves the right to make minor equipment selection changes or small modifications after the RFP award, but prior to manufacture, without penalty or additional costs levied by the Proponent. The project will be overseen by a Project Steering Committee chaired by Director of Recreation and Healthy Communities, and will include Director of Engineering and Public Works, Accessibility Coordinator, Community Development Coordinator, as well as Chief Administrative Officer.
