The project will construct improvements at 38 proposed bus stop locations to serve a new local bus circulator route in the Town of Apex, called GoApex Route 1. Improvements proposed for each stop will provide pedestrian connections, and install amenities including: bench, trash receptacle, bike parking, shelter, concrete amenity pad, and route information signage (lighting to be installed by the Town of Apex). Bid must be accompanied by an original, fully executed Bid Bond payable to Owner in an amount of five percent (5%) of the total amount of the bid. A certified check, in the above referenced amount, may be used in lieu of a Bid Bond. The successful Bidder, within ten (10) calendar days after the Notice of Award is issued, shall provide the Town of Apex with a contract payment bond and a contract performance bond each in an amount equal to 100 percent of the amount of the contract. All bonds shall be in conformance with G.S. 44A-33. The corporate surety furnishing the bonds shall be authorized to do business in the State. Failure on the part of the successful bidder to file acceptable bonds within the time specified above shall be just cause for the forfeiture of the bid bond or bid deposit and rescinding award of the contract. Award may then be made to the next lowest responsible bidder or the work may be re-advertised Bidders are required to be prequalified with NCDOT for their specific discipline. At the preconstruction conference the Contractor shall declare his expected date for beginning work. Should the Contractor desire to revise this date after the preconstruction conference, he shall notify the Engineer in writing at least thirty (30) days prior to the revised date
