A timeline for award has not yet been established.** Sandra Moon Community Center Phase 2 The Work of Project is defined by the Contract Documents and includes, but is not limited to, the following: 1. Renovations to existing +/- 110,000 Community Center Complex. Work includes upgrades to accessibility, engineering systems, new fire sprinkler system, new fire alarm system, and other Work indicated in the Contract Documents. a. This project is the second portion of a multi-part renovation effort for the Sandra Moon Community Complex. The existing facility is the remaining structure of the old vacant Grissom High School. All classroom buildings were demolished in a previous project leaving only the two gymnasiums, the kitchen, cafeteria, a sprinkled 1200 seat auditorium, and the music rehearsal spaces b. The primary goals of this project are to improve the life safety systems in the entire facility by installing a complete fire sprinkler system and new fire alarm system. A new fire water and domestic water vault are being added to the site connecting to a new fire riser in the existing building. c. In addition to these primary goals, the primary electrical switchgear is not functioning and being replaced for safety purposes, existing locker rooms are being demolished and left as shell space, and the music rehearsal spaces are being fully renovated to meet the urgent need of the community fine art programs of Arts Huntsville. d. In order to fully sprinkler and install new fire alarm, all existing ceilings in the facility will have to be removed to allow for access to the above ceiling areas. Once fully sprinklered, most ceilings will remain open awaiting future renovation as funds become available. e. It is the intent of this project to restore full use of the music rehearsal areas and to leave the gymnasiums and designated public restrooms in usable condition until those areas can be fully renovated. The auditorium, kitchen and cafeteria will be left in a safe condition, but it is not the Owner's intention to utilize these areas until they are fully renovated in a future project. f. The only portion of the building undergoing significant renovation is the fully renovated music rehearsal areas This includes scope for new sprinkler, fire alarm, mechanical systems, ceilings and lights, refreshed tenant restrooms, a reconfigured office suite, new doors and hardware and new finishes throughout. *Addendum 4 is available. All questions must be submitted to the Architect prior to January 18, 2022 at 12pm Noon.
