Site work for a water / sewer project in Daytona Beach, Florida. Conceptual plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
This project is included in the Volusia County fiscal years 2023-2028 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). As of December 7, 2023, further details regarding design and construction have not been identified. A firm timeline for construction has not been established; however, funding is allotted to fiscal years 2024. A detailed scope has not yet been released. The purpose of this project is to reconfigure the pond to mitigate and prevent aquatic growth. The project will deepen the pond to prevent future growth of aquatic materials. During a 2009 Wildlife Hazard Assessment an engineering investigation has determined that the shallow depth of the pond facilitates the growth of vegetation. This project is required due to the aquatic growth which has been identified in our Wildlife Management Plan to be an attractant for birds and other animals which are hazards to airport traffic. Spraying of the vegetation provides little in terms of forestalling and prevention of growth. This project is required to arrest this growth; provide a long term solution and respond to the risk imposed by wildlife attracted to this pond. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
