High Street is a 335m long road located in the Bridgeburg section of Fort Erie that extends from Idylewylde Street in the north to Catherine Street in the south. There is an existing section of 150mm diameter asbestos cement watermain that was installed between 1960 and 1979 that has reached the end of its service life. The Water Distribution System Master Plan, completed in April 2017, recommended the replacement of this 150mm diameter asbestos cement watermain within the short term (0-10 years). Construction will include the replacement of this existing AC watermain with 150mm diameter PVC Watermain (240m length). A section of the proposed watermain has been designed in close proximity to the existing AC watermain. A provisional item for temporary watermain installation has been included in the contract if during construction the need for a temporary watermain is deemed necessary. Separate commissioning will be needed for the temporary watermain installation. The existing 200mm diameter asbestos cement sanitary sewer from Idylewyle St. to 81m south was installed in 1962. As the sanitary sewer will reach the end of its service life prior to the road requiring repair, it has been recommended to be replaced with a 200mm PVC sanitary sewer. There is also a section of existing 300mm diameter CSP storm sewer that requires upgrading to a 300mm and 350mm diameter PVC storm sewer. Approximately 164m of High Street will require full depth reconstruction and 76m will require trench reinstatement only.
