Site work and paving for a sidewalk / parking lot in Saint Joseph, Michigan. Conceptual plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.

This Request for Proposal is to provide interested area Engineering and Landscape Design firms with sufficient information to submit proposals for consideration by the City of St. Joseph in connection with its needs for Design Services for Parking Lot Improvements. The Scope of Work shall include, but is not limited to the following tasks: 1. Facilitating public input meetings with DDA and nearby businesses (not more than four meetings) 2. Providing conceptual plans and color renderings for both lots that maximize the best use of the property while providing safe pedestrian access, vehicular movements and efficient snow removal. 3. Design elements should incorporate the use of vegetation to reduce heat : island effect, natural storm water filtration features, permeable pavers 7 where appropriate (i.e., sidewalks, bicycle parking areas, parking meter : installations and electric car charging areas). A, Recommendation to the placement and number of electric charging stations : along with possible use of compact parking spaces where appropriate. 5. Establishing a theme for the design of these lots is part of a more comprehensive plan for all downtown City lots as described in the Downtown Vision Master Plan. 6. Within Lot 12, the possible inclusion of a drop-off/pick-up area or gathering space while highlighting the entrance into the downtown. 7. Providing specifications for construction and an opinion of future construction costs. It is the intent of the City to evaluate all proposals quickly and be prepared to recommend an award at the January 24, 2022 City Commission meeting. Substantial completion of design services shall be completed by June 17, 2022. , Any Bidder may withdraw its proposal in person, by facsimile, or by letter, any time prior to the scheduled closing time for receipt of proposals. Each proposal shall be considered binding and in effect for a period of Sixty (60) days after the closing date. The City reserves the right to reject any and all proposals and negotiate with any source, in any manner necessary, deemed to be in its best interest. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time.
