Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Mc Rae Helena, Georgia. Working plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.
This project will replace the existing bridge that was built in 1941 over Little Panther Creek. The bridge is located on Tugalo Short Cut Road approximately 1.4 miles south of the City of Tallulah Falls. The proposed bridge will be a single span 70-ft long structure with approaches that consist of one 10-ft lane in each direction with a minimum 2-ft graded shoulders. The proposed bridge will be replaced in-place with the use of an off-site detour. The proposed bridge will be raised approximately 2 feet above the existing roadway surface. The proposed profile would provide the required clearance over the design flood and account for the beam depth. The proposed length of the project is approximately 0.1 mile. CR 225/Tugalo Short Cut Road will be closed off from the intersection of SR15/US441/US23 to the intersection of Tugalo Village Road. Traffic will be detoured along SR15/US441/US23, SR15-Loop and Tugalo Village Road. The entire detour route is 2.7 miles long where the normal route is 1.4 miles long.
