Saving Project...

Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Charlotte, North Carolina. Completed plans call for site work for a transportation facility; for paving for a transportation facility; and water / sewer project.

The North End Around Taxiway (NEAT) - Package 1 Project consists of the site preparation work required to construct the NEAT. The alignment of the NEAT extends from the north edge of the West Ramp concrete pavement, around the north end of Runway 18C-36C, to the existing intersection of Taxiway N and Taxiway V. This project will perform the majority of the grading, storm drainage, and impacts to the Navigational Aid System (NAVAIDs) to prepare for the paving of the NEAT that will be constructed within a future construction package. This package consists of clearing and grubbing, erosion and sediment control, earthwork, storm drainage, and utility infrastructure necessary to prepare for subsequent construction packages. Over 200 acres are anticipated to be disturbed and approximately 1,880,000 cubic yards of earth will be moved. Over 60 new storm drain manholes, inlets, and headwalls will be installed and connected with approximately 14,000 linear feet of new storm drain pipe. During this project, a portion of Old Dowd Road will be closed to the public and removed between the intersection with Marshall Drive and the Airport Tank Farm. The portion of Old Dowd Road remaining will be modified between Marshall Drive and Airport Overlook Drive to maintain public traffic west of Marshall Drive. Also, a portion of Airport Overlook Drive will be relocated to accommodate the grading limits of the NEAT. New gravel airfield perimeter access roads are included. Removal of abandoned utility lines, and demolition of structures and other miscellaneous items is also included. This construction package will impact several NAVAIDs serving Runway 18C-36C and the airport as a whole. Notable NAVAIDs impacted include the relocation of the Runway 36C Localizer, modification and/or removal and replacement of several stations of the Runway 18C MALSR, grading within the Runway 18C Glideslope Critical Area, relocation of the existing Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS) weather observation equipment, and relocation of the existing Electrical Line Distribution (ELD) power and communications infrastructure serving numerous NAVAIDs. Close coordination with the airport and FAA will be required throughout the project. Deadline for all written questions will be on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at 5:00 PM EST
