The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) is seeking bids for Tree thinning and Brush Removal at La Pine State Park campground. Work consists of thinning of trees less than 8 inches in diameter at breast height and removal of vegetation as a fuels reduction project. The term of the awarded Contract is anticipated to be through December 30, 2022. The term of the Contract may be extended by written Amendment. OPRD has an immediate need for these services. Agency prefers to complete the north and middle camp loops before April 1, 2022. Project start and completion date January 17, 2022 - November 30, 2022 La Pine State Park Campground is used by thousands of visitors every year and has been in need of a fuels reduction treatment and creation of defensible space for decades to help protect infrastructure investments and facilitate evacuation efforts from a wildfire incident. The campground is made up of three loops (North, Middle & South). These loops include tent, cabins, RV sites, meeting hall and restroom/shower buildings and all the support infrastructure. The North and Middle campground loops are closed from October thru March every year. The South loop is open year-round. Completing operations before April 1 st 2022 on the North, Middle loops and road buffer area are preferable. The operational period for South loop will be the first two week of November 2022. This Statement of Work includes thinning/pruning of lodgepole and ponderosa pine (~35.5 ac.) and removal of bitter brush (~24.5 ac.). The end result within the campground loops will be a reduction in vegetation while still providing enough vegetation screening for campers to maintain a pleasant camping experience. The road buffer has had a past fuel reduction treatment.
