The project is an addition and renovation for the McDonald Junior High School. Included is a large expansion of the fire sprinkler system, replacement of HVAC and Plumbing equipment. New restroom fixtures and drinking fountains, new interior LED light fixtures, new acoustical ceilings, new floor coverings and interior painting is also included. No major changes to the existing building envelope are included in this package. Trades affected are; demolition, earthwork, hydro-mulch /sod, chain-link fencing, concrete, masonry, structural and misc. steel with erection, rough carpentry, waterproofing /damproofing, sealants, building insulation, metal roofing, doors, frames, hardware, storefront systems, drywall, acoustical ceilings /wall panels, plaster, floor and wall tile, resilient flooring, carpet and base, painting, lockers, room graphics, residential appliances, educational casework, fire suppression, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, structured cabling, intercom, video surveillance, access and intrusion control, fire alarm and other work defined within the construction documents. TH McDonald JHS Renovations and Addition - 01 Katy Independent School District intends to construct a new 16,560 SF Math and Science classroom addition to TH McDonald JHS as well as a renovation of the existing Junior High School facility focusing mainly on a completely new fire sprinkler system and MEP upgrades focusing on new HVAC equipment, new LED light fixtures and low flow efficient plumbing fixtures. 02 Flooring and painting will also be included, however no major changes to the building envelope will be included with this package. Roofing and exterior finishes will remain as is and we will be removing the portable classrooms and reworking the ballfield and track event locations. 03 The project will commence the summer of 2023 and continue until the end of summer 2024 with the new science and math building continuing throughout the year. The majority of the renovation work, including the kitchen area, will happen during the 2 summers. 04 We will be preparing the infrastructure and ordering HVAC and kitchen equipment the summer of 2023 and then installing all equipment the summer of 2024. 05 The entire kitchen area is to be bid as Alternate #1 for cost tracking purposes as this scope will be included in the project.
