The City is accepting sealed bids from qualified firms to provide sludge hauling services from the City's wastewater treatment plant to the Lee County Landfill and the Richland Landfill. The successful bidder must provide all trucks and trailers to be used in hauling sludge. The truck must be able to fit into the loading bay at the Wastewater Management Facility's Bio-Solids Dewatering Building. The City of Florence under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related statutes ensures that no person shall on the grounds of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, and age, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be otherwise subjected to discrimination under any program or activity it administers. Questions concerning this invitation to bid should be directed to the City Purchasing Agent, Lynwood F. Givens in writing by e-mail at lgivens@cityofflorence.com. The City of Florence reserves the right to engage in discussions with any or all responsible bidders who submit bids which appear to be eligible for award, for the purpose of clarification to assure full understanding of and responsiveness to the Invitation to bid requirements herein. This solicitation does not commit the City of Florence to award a contract/purchase order, to pay any costs incurred in the preparation of a bid, or to procure or contract for services. The City of Florence reserves the right to reject any and all responses, to cancel this solicitation, and to make an award deemed in its own best interest. The initial term of the contract resulting from this invitation to bid shall run for one year starting with the execution date of the contract. The parties thereafter shall have the option to renew this agreement for four (4) additional one-year terms, one year at a time, but only upon the mutual agreement of both parties. During a one (1) year period, the Wastewater Treatment Plant produces approximately ten thousand (10,500) wet tons of sludge. All bidders can base their bids on this approximate volume.
