Saving Project...

Renovation of a mixed-use development in Saint Louis, Missouri. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 14,708-square-foot, eight-story above grade educational facility.

A Washington University Gnotobiotic Research, Education and Transgenic (WU-GREaT) center for modeling genetic and environmental effectors of disease pathogenesis, to be located at 4540 Scott Avenue, St. Louis, Missouri, is released for public construction bid(s) solicitation. The Project is to renovate a portion of an existing building by partially utilizing federal funds. The School of Medicine has evaluated the environmental and community impact of the proposed construction. Construction activity is isolated within the existing building, and no additional construction noise or construction traffic is anticipated to the surrounding area. A slight environmental impact has been foreseen due to increased generator usage. All building and construction permits will be obtained. Any general construction company or firm (bidder) that intends to submit a bid proposal is required to contact The University as noted below for all bid documents and bidding instructions. Communications should be addressed to the Office of the Associate Dean for Research, Washington University School of Medicine, 660 South Euclid Avenue, Campus Box 8106, St. Louis, MO 63110, and be received by June 30, 2022. The federal grant application may be reviewed at the Office of the Associate Dean for Research, Washington University School of Medicine, 660 South Euclid Avenue, St. Louis, MO, 63110 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays. Please note: - General Contractor(s) wanting to submit a bid will need to do so thru the Scout RFP system, as well as any RFI's that may be generated will be submitted thru and answered via Scout. To do so, we will need contact and company info to add to the system. - There will be a mandatory pre-bid on site walkthrough. The new WU-GREaT will be located on the third floor of the existing East McDonnell Specialized Research Facility (EMSRF), a seven-story structure with basement and penthouse originally constructed in 1995. This 121,697 gross square foot (gsf) (51,961 net square foot (nsf) facility) is one of the primary vivarium facilities on the WUSM campus, housing rodents and non-human primates (NHP), associated procedural and vivarium support spaces. The NHP housing and procedural space, currently located on the second and third floors, will be relocating to a new facility; creating the opportunity to relocate and expand the existing 2,260 nsf gnotobiotic core from the Specialized Research Facility (SRF), a smaller facility without direct connection to the research campus. The third floor provides 11,190 nsf for the expanded core and direct adjacencies to existing gnotobiotic research on the fourth floor and utilization of vivarium support facilities on the first floor and existing building systems, designed for animal facilities.
